NEWS Lawyers frequently need to find out as much as possible about current clients, potential clients, and existing or potential adversaries. Often, they can find the information they need in newspapers and other periodicals, which can be sources for news, statistics, business, technology, weather, and all kinds of information at the local, state, national and international level.
Recognized and well-respected newspapers and periodicals are widely-available sources of information. Many news sources are also conveniently accessible on the Internet and in legal databases. These online resources often provide an archive of published articles, a searchable database, and other useful services. If a news source is unfamiliar or not well known, you should evaluate the truthfulness, quality, and source of the information.
