During this period, use of the Downtown Campus Library will be restricted to students, faculty, & staff of the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). Everyone will be required to show an ID at the entrance.

IIT students may obtain a special wristband that may be used instead of an ID…show your ID & ask for a wristband! Circulation staff will place one on the wrist of your choice. After that, you need only show your wrist to gain admittance…no digging through bags, pleading with staff, or waiting in line!

Along with 76 other libraries in the I-Share program, the Downtown Campus Library upgraded our catalog search tools this week. You’ll notice that the look and feel has changed quite a bit (though it isn’t finished yet!) and there are several new ways to search the catalog.

The search box on the library website and the basic search functions you’ve used are still there, though the tabs may in the catalog may have new names.  If you experience any problems with the library catalog, please let us know at library@kentlaw.edu.

Here are a few changes you may see when you’re searching:

• • The IIT Catalog does not yet have a full customized color scheme to keep it separate from the I-Share interface
• • “Quick Search” features are now under the “Basic” tab in the catalog
• • There are now separate tabs to make it faster to search for Authors and Subjects
• • You can fine tune your search using several specialized filters on the Advanced Page

Here are a few new features you can try with your search results:

• • Filter your search result lists quickly using an easy menu on the right side of the lists
• • Create saved lists of search results (use your IIT ID number and last name to login here first)

Over the summer some of the current interface will be updated to include more IIT Branding and determine which features will be most useful to our users. We’ll keep posting updates as those changes are implemented.
