Definition

Live Chat - A form of immediate, electronic text communication which involves caller using a chat box on a Web site and responder using IM or a commercial chat service. No account or special software required of caller.

Doing and Teaching Legal Research

Many library websites now offer chat boxes directly on their home pages. Westlaw and Lexis also offer live online support services for reference and technical questions.
