Library Spaces

The Library provides study space for over 450 library users as well as special rooms that can be reserved for group study or other specialized purposes.

Group Study Rooms

There are 9 study rooms available in the library for group study on the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th floors. Only IIT students can reserve study rooms. No student can reserve a study room for individual use, although anyone may use an empty room unless it is reserved for a group. The larger 5 study rooms all have white boards and podiums. Please do not move the podiums - contact a library staff member if you do not see a podium available in a room.

Each student can add one hour per day to a group reservation. Reservations can be made up to 1 week in advance by visiting the Circulation Desk and presenting a student ID or by calling 312-906-5600.

LIR Boardroom

The Library LIR Boardroom (Room 800) is located on the 8th floor, with an entrance outside the library by the main elevator lobby. It can be reserved by faculty or staff if the reservation does not conflict with library scheduled meetings. To reserve the LIR Boardroom, contact the Library Director, Keith Ann Stiverson:

Library Media Room

Located on the Library’s 8th floor, the Media Room is fully-equipped and can seat up to 6 students. The Media Room features a stereo, a 27" TV, and a DVD/VCR player. In addition, there is a computer for watching lectures and other media on the Internet or to run special software for a class. Media stored in this room are designated in the catalog as being in location “DTC Media Services”.

Meditation Room

Located on the Library's 8th floor, the Meditation Room is available to any students who need a place for private prayer or meditation. Prayer rugs are available in the room. Visit the Circulation Desk on the library's 9th floor to access this room.

New Mothers Room

The New Mothers Room is on the 8th floor. This private room features a sink, a table, a power outlet, and a refrigerator. To use this room, ask for assistance at the Reference Desk on the 9th floor.
