Providing faculty with knowledge of recent developments in their areas of research interest is a major function of the Library. The Library provides the following current awareness services for faculty.
Table of Contents Pages are emailed daily (law) and weekly (business) to make conveniently available the tables of contents of the most recently arrived legal and business periodicals. Document Services staff will photocopy articles as requested.
CILP provides weekly email notification of the articles recently indexed in the Current Index to Legal Periodicals on topics selected by the professor. CILP will also include full tables of contents for journals of particular interest. Citations include built-in links to Lexis and Westlaw, where available. Library liaisons have sign-up information about setting up your customized CILP email. A weekly listing of all articles indexed is also available from the Library here.
Library liaisons can help set up customized WestClip (Westlaw) and Eclipse (Lexis) automated clipping service searches, as well as inform professors when they see recent literature or news concerning their professors' research interests.
Professors who need particular publications routed to them may request this through their library liaison.
The latest issues of popular journals are placed in the Faculty Lounge for one week after they have been added to the collection. National newspapers, such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Investors Business Daily, and Financial Times are available in the Faculty Lounge on weekdays by 9 am. A copy of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin is provided for the Faculty Lounge and weekly papers, such as Barron's, Crain's Chicago Business, and Chronicle of Higher Education are also available.
A new books list is posted once a month.
