iit logomarkInterlibrary Loan Guide

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) can be used to borrow books or get copies of articles that are not available through the IIT Libraries or the I-Share System. This service is available to all current DTC students, full-time faculty, and adjuncts who are currently teaching classes at the Downtown Campus.

Before placing an ILL request, please check the IIT Catalog, the I-Share Catalog and the E-Resources databases to make sure the item is not already available.

Note: We cannot borrow textbooks, commercial outlines, archival papers, most dissertations, popular fiction, movies, and other non-scholarly works. Articles from newspapers or journals that are available through one of our e-resources are also not eligible for interlibrary loan.

Requesting ILL Items

If you have a complete citation:

To make an ILL request, use this form or email illreq@kentlaw.edu.

If you are requesting an article, please include: the article title, journal name, volume number, date, and page numbers. If you are requesting a book, include: the book title, author, volume (if applicable), edition, and date.

If you need to find information about an article:

You may also make requests directly from WorldCat (requires login if off-campus).

In Worldcat, after you complete your search look for the "Borrow this item from another library" link at the top of the page with the full description of the item:

In the next form, please include your name and enough information about the material you need so that we can find it for you.

NOTE: Law Review students should contact the Law Review staff person responsible for library relations before placing a request if the request is for an article cite check.
