When she was arrested, Rosa Parks was processed and briefly jailed. E. D. Nixon, an organizer for the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and a long time member of the NAACP arranged for her bail and arranged for Clifford Durr, a local white lawyer, to take on her case.
