Giving to the Library

Only through the generosity of friends like you can we create and maintain our unique collection of legal, business, and interdisciplinary materials. Gifts enrich our collection by helping us meet the demand for popular titles and replace lost or damaged materials. We appreciate your willingness to contribute to the success of our Library.

What our Library needs

  • Hardback and quality paperback books in good condition in topical areas (business, law, public administration, environmental science, and related fields) that support the curriculum
  • Works of significant research value.

Book or In-Kind Donations

Donated materials help us cut expenses while supplying faculty and students with valuable materials. Gifts are accepted with the understanding that material which is considered inappropriate for the collection may be used exchanged, sold or discarded.

  • First, call the library director, Keith Stiverson, at 312-906-5610 to discuss your potential donation and any special circumstances regarding your gift. If for some reason your gift is not suitable for the collection, we will suggest alternative locations for your materials.
  • Arrange to drop off your gift at the Library. Click here for address & map.
  • Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number with the materials.

Tax Deductions

All gifts to the library are considered charitable donations.

If you claim a deduction of a non-cash gift, you might need an appraisal. Internal Revenue Service regulations do not allow the library to provide an appraisal or estimate of the value of the donated material.

Because tax laws change from time to time, we encourage you to seek advice from a knowledgeable tax consultant about current requirements.

Acknowledgement

Unless you wish to remain anonymous, the Library will acknowledge your gift with a letter indicating the number of books you have donated and with a bookplate in books that are added to the collection.
