Library Special Collections & Locations
The Library at the Downtown Campus contains approximately 500,000 volumes and encompasses libraries of both the Chicago-Kent College of Law and the Stuart School of Business. These libraries form an outstanding collection of materials relating to law, business, international relations, and the social sciences.

Careers
With the support of both the Chicago-Kent and Stuart Career Services Offices, the Library has created a special collection of career materials. Books in this special collection include guides on writing resumes, interviewing, and job seeking. Students may check out Career materials for the normal circulating period. Materials in this collection are identified in the catalog as in location “DTC Career Services Collection, Law (10th Floor)” or “DTC Career Services Collection, Business (10th Floor)”.

Faculty Course Reserve
Students can find materials on reserve for classes through the Reserve tab in the Library’s online catalog. Faculty reserve materials are kept are kept at the 9th floor Service Desk and may be checked out for 3 hours. Faculty who wish to place items on reserve may contact Maribel Nash (mnash@kentlaw.edu)

Law in Popular Culture Collection
The Law in Popular Culture Collection is a special collection behind the 9th floor Service Desk that invites students to investigate the popular perception of law, lawyers, judges, and trials. The collection also includes selected works written by lawyers and judges and selected non-fiction works about the popular perceptionof lawyers and judges.
While the main focus of the collection is on the law in American popular culture, other viewpoints are represented. The collection contains books, DVDs, and other media that may be checked-out by DTC students, faculty and staff. The location is identified in the catalog as "DTC Law in Popular Culture Collection (Circulating)".

Leisure Reading Room
Located on the 9th floor, just beside the Reference Desk, the Leisure Reading Room has the most recent editions of various newspapers, news magazines and other current awareness materials. The Room, with its nine oversized plush chairs, was designed as a space for students to socialize and relax. After materials have cycled through the Leisure Reading Room, they are kept for a short period on the Current Awareness stacks on the 9th floor. In the catalog, this location is indicated as “DTC Current Awareness Shelves (9th Floor, Range 969)”.

Library Service Desk
Located on the 9th floor by the entrance, the Circulation Desk or "Library Service Desk" provides check out services for all circulating materials and is the pick-up location for course reserves and other specialty items, including multimedia like program CDs and the LPOP movies on DVD.

Media Room
Audio-visual materials are generally housed in the Library's Media Room on the 8th floor, designated in the catalog as the location “DTC Media Services”. Ask for them at the 9th floor Service Desk.

Reference
Located on the Library’s 9th floor between the Reference Office and the Leisure Reading Room, the Library has a special collection of reference materials that includes useful materials for both law and business study.
In addition to the materials in the stacks just behind the Reference Desk, the Reference collection also contains encyclopedias, atlases, and other materials shelved by the email stations on the 9th floor.
All reference materials are designated in the catalog as being in location “DTC Reference (9th Floor)”.

Reserve Collection
The Library's reserve collection is located in the Berkson Reading Room on the 10th floor. The open reserve collection includes the most current edition of major hornbook and treatise series as well as an Illinois state law reference collection. Materials from the reserve collection are selected by reference librarians and faculty specifically to support the Chicago-Kent or Stuart curriculum. The Berkson Reading Room also houses the Library’s Illinois Law Collection. Materials in this space are identified in the catalog as in location “DTC Reserve Room (10th Floor)”.

Storage - Closed Stacks
Superseded legal and business materials are kept in a special area on the 6th floor known as the Closed Stacks. The Library has no remote storage area, so all materials not fit for the general collection, but important enough to keep, are kept in the Closed Stacks. Those who wish to use these materials should ask for assistance at the Service Desk. Materials in this area are identified in the catalog as in location “Library Storage”.
